Key facts
- Visibility is the percentage of answers, for a set of prompts, that name your brand.
- Position records where in the answer you appear, since the first name gets the most attention.
- Share of voice compares your mentions with every competitor named in the same answers.
- The same question can get different answers, so a single check is not a reliable score.
The core metrics
- Visibility: the percentage of answers that mention you.
- Position: your average place among the brands named in an answer.
- Share of voice: your mentions as a share of all brand mentions in those answers.
- Sentiment: how positively the answer describes you, from a warning to a strong recommendation.
- Citations: the pages and sites the assistant links or relies on, including yours and your competitors'.
Why one check is not enough
AI assistants sample their words, so the same prompt can name different brands from one ask to the next. Answers also change by country, language, signed in state and the model version in use. A reliable score asks each prompt several times across engines and markets, then reports a likely range rather than a single number. A change is only worth acting on when it is bigger than that normal spread.
How to improve AI visibility
- 1Find the prompts where competitors are named and you are not.
- 2Read the sources the assistant cites for those prompts.
- 3Publish or improve pages that answer those exact questions with clear facts.
- 4Earn mentions on the cited third party sites, such as reviews, forums and comparisons.
- 5Re-measure over the following weeks and keep what moved the number.
