Why does it matter if AI crawlers run JavaScript?
Most AI crawlers, including the ones behind ChatGPT search, Perplexity and Claude, read the raw HTML and do not run JavaScript. If your text loads only after scripts run, they may see an almost empty page and cannot quote you.
How do I fix a page that looks empty to AI?
Render the main content on the server, with server side rendering or static generation, so the words are in the HTML the crawler downloads. Most modern frameworks support this.
Does Google see the same thing?
Googlebot can run JavaScript, but it does so later and not always. Content in the HTML is still the safest choice for Google AI Overviews and AI Mode.
What else should I check?
Make sure robots.txt and your firewall let AI crawlers in. The AI crawler access checker tests both.
