Claude for brands

By the Variask team · Updated

In short

Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant, used heavily for research, work and coding. It answers from its training data and, when web search is on, from pages it finds and cites. Brands get recommended when they are described clearly and accurately on the sources Claude reads.

  • Answers from training data, and from live web search when it is on.
  • Cites the pages it used when it searches.
  • Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User are the crawlers to allow.

How Claude builds an answer

  • With web search on, Claude searches for the question and cites its sources.
  • Without search, it answers from what it learned in training.
  • It tends to give balanced answers that mention several options and trade offs.
  • It is widely used at work, so business and software questions are common.

Let it read your site

Anthropic uses Claude-SearchBot to index pages for search and Claude-User when a user asks Claude to read a page. ClaudeBot collects training data and can be controlled separately.

Measure it properly

Claude answers change from one run to the next, and by country, language and wording. One chat is not a trend. Track the same set of buyer questions every week, run each more than once, and look at the share of answers that name you, the position you appear in, and the sources cited. Variask does this for Claude and every other major AI engine.
