What is answer-first content?

By the Variask team · Updated

Definition

Answer-first content opens with a direct answer to the question, usually in 40 to 60 words, before giving detail. AI engines often quote that opening, so answer-first pages are easier to cite.

How it works

  • Use the question's words in the title.
  • Answer it directly in the first paragraph.
  • Then give the detail, steps and evidence.
  • Answer each follow up question at the start of its own section.

What it means for brands

  • Rewrite the openings of your key pages first. It is a quick win.
  • Keep each answer true on its own, without needing the rest of the page.
